My fascination with water photography and a lack of water in its liquid form for almost half the year where I live led to my second collaboration with my mother: Once Upon Ice. My mother, however, doubted that she could respond poetically to more than a few ice photos, so she enlisted the help of friends of her's. These included Marvin Bell, X.J. Kennedy, Lee Bennett Hopkins, Nancy Willard, J. Patrick Lewis, and Ann Turner. I enjoyed the variety of responses to my photography, yet my favorite remains one of my mother's poems, Ice Can Scream..
